Broken-Needle Detection Requirements for Apparel Exports

During garment production, a broken sewing needle can leave a tip or segment inside the finished product, posing a safety risk to the wearer. As a result, exported garments, especially those destined for markets with strict consumer-safety requirements, generally require broken-needle detection.

Needle detectors use online magnetic-induction sensing to identify broken needles and ferrous metal mixed into garments. Products that pass inspection proceed to packaging and shipment, and inspection data can serve as part of quality-control records for customer audits and traceability.

For apparel exporters, installing one or more needle detectors and establishing a broken-needle inspection procedure is an effective way to meet customer quality requirements and reduce return risks. Matching aperture size, accuracy and line speed is key to equipment selection.
